Birth Prep Tonic #1 - Herbal Tincture
Ah, the third trimester! The home stretch, kind of. You're getting big, feeling excited, a bit nervous and at times uncomfortable. You're also making noises that are new to your repertoire. You're exploring the obsessive tendencies of nesting and the surprising calm and delight it brings.
You're thinking more and more about the birth. You're wondering what you can do to help prepare your body leading up to the big day.
Enter, the wise women's traditional birth herbs with a modern twist: the herbal tincture.
A herbal tincture is an alcohol base extraction of the herb. It gives a high potency preparation which means you don't need to take much to get the medicinal effect.
It has high absorbency and fast-acting properties. Given that only a very small/negligible amount of alcohol is consumed, it remains a very safe and effective way of using herbs. Taken as directed, tinctures are considered safe for late pregnancy. * See exceptions below.
The Birth Prep Tonic #1 is a Naturopath formulated, traditional blend of birth prep (parturient) herbs to help support the body in late pregnancy and in preparation for labour.
Suitable from 34 weeks. When used as directed, the bottle will last until 38 weeks. Ideally followed by Birth Prep Tonic #2 from 38 weeks to 40 weeks.
Contains: Raspberry Leaf (Rubus idaeus), Squaw Vine (Mitchella repens), Withania Root (Withania somnifera), Cramp Bark (Viburnum opulus), Nettle leaf (Urtica dioica)
Comes with a specific dosage regime for 34-38 weeks.
These herbs will not 'induce' labour. They work at prepping and toning the uterus for the work ahead.
I have been using these herbal tinctures for their parturient/partus preparator properties within my naturopathic practise over the past 20 years.
This product is also available within the Naturopaths Birth Prep Herbal Tincture Pack.
* Please note, the Birth Prep Tonic #1 is not recommended for pregnant women with the following circumstances:
- You have a history/family history of preterm labour
- You have high blood pressure
- Your pregnancy has been deemed as high risk
- You have a medical condition requiring medication
- You are taking other birth preparation herbs (please check with your health practitioner or get in touch to ask about the compatibility)
